Disks won't boot
XP mapped the new boot disk to drive "f:", left the old one at "c:", and wouldn't let me change drive letters of a drive I was booted from. Well, I finally opened the case and disconnected the old full drive - and the system won't boot completely. It hangs just prior to displaying the login accounts.

PowerMac 6100 suddently won't start
Internal HD was disk #1 and external USB HD was #2 and I used the normal cloning process (#1 to #2). When the system went to boot for the locking of HD#1, I received the normal Dell splash screen but then I received a message to Cntl+Alt+Del because the system couldn't boot. It appears that, for some reason,

Can't boot SBS. "Disk read error occured"
The deal is that the two parts of your post don't connect. The first sentence is about something you downloaded (software). The second sentence starts with "it" and is thus about hardware - what starts up from CD is the physical computer. (And it does this when you hold just C while restarting - not control-C.)

Is there a partition size limit for Boot disks? I tried swapping which was slave/master but it still didn't work using the full size for the (main) partition so I am going back and trying to partition it into two roughly equal-sized parts. RE size... actually I remembered incorrectly, it is a WD "120 GB" (ie 114 GB

Warp won't boot from utility disks?
I'm not sure how it emulates the disk but I'm assuming it's generating whatever pulses needed for a hard sector disk since it was originally designed for that exact purpose. Also, last night I mentioned I was able to finally boot with my H17 but this morning it wouldn't boot. I suspected my H17 controller card

OS 9.2 won't start up from disk!
However, on the first successful boot, like before, the CD and Zip drives were not seen, although they responded in accepting and releasing the disks. .... For that reason, I won't even touch XP or Vista. I'm not sure of WinME allows for this or not. The whole issue comes down to the format of the hard drive.

WinXP Pro SP2 won't boot-boot sector etc?
It will not boot into windows which is already installed on HD. I turned off RAID and Promise. The bios is 1016. I have installed 1 gig of ddr pc3200 ram. I am stumped big time. Help? More details would help. Did you prep the disks on another interface or another computer, and then install the disk ?

When I build the utility disks and then try to boot with them the machine hangs when it gets to sony31a.add. I have tried removing this, since I have a Mitsumi-16X Atapi CD, but it doesn't help. The machine is an Indelible Blue Pythagous machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Michael Rowe Team OS/2.

I did boot from the Win2000 cd, go to the repair console, logon onto the Win2000 installation on the harddrive, and ran fixmbr on both drives. No help. My guess is that the "signature" parameter in my boot.ini file is now causing the boot loader to look for a disk that isn't there. Here is what I have -- [boot

Help! Panic! Services won't start, no system restore...
Decided I would do a System Restore but the only restore point available is this morning (9 Feb) and no further back I can't retore to a known good point before the issue occurred. There's 20GB free on the System disk (System Restore is enabled - there is ONE restore point!), so why only one restore point available

Setup Disks Won't Boot!
For some reason NT reset on me and went back to a setup file from the beginning. My problem for now is that I am trying to boot from the NT setup disks so I can reload my Emergency Disk with my latest information. BTW, the CPU makes no difference when talking about whether a large disk is supported or not. The motherboard BIOS might care if it's attached to a P166. The main problems you will have are these: 0) BIOS refuses to recognize disk at all, and won't boot with the disk attached. No problem.

Format it on any Win2000/XP PC. Don't format it on a Win9x machine - it won't work. 3. Copy the following files from the i386 folder of your Win2000 CD to A:\ - - ntldr - ntdetect.com 4.
